Is Your Time in the Arctic a Source of Joy?

The most challenging expeditions, honestly, are those to the Antarctic. The field season there goes essentially from Thanksgiving through late January. There's nothing in our lives that can really prepare us for the sensory experience of being in a polar landscape. And there's an aesthetic joy to working in a place like this but also an intellectual one that brings me back.
