What I Like About Formal Modelling

Formal modelling is not just going to save us by itself. It's been hyped quite a bit in the last years, but i also agree with people who've pushed back aagainst that a bit. I think what would definitely be good in psychology is to have more consensus, an agreement on certain important things. For example, there would already be a great start when it comes to explaining psychological phenomena. But formalization can help to pin point where the disagreement is, and make the disagreement more productive. If it works, i'm not sure if it will resolve sort of endless debates in social sciences,. There's always more involved than 'just introducing formal modelling'
