Sarupagana is the essence of knowledge, without which no knowledge is. Consciousness plus object is equal to experience. We all have different kinds of knowledge depending on what writtes you have set up. Bad thought does not make consciousness bad. A good ritty or a nice thought doesn't make consciousness nice. Light can fall upon objects of worship in the temple like mud and slush outside. But light does not become muddy, or light do not become a pure object of worship. It is ever pure.
"The objects of knowledge, viz., sound, touch, etc., which are perceived in the waking state, are different from each other because of their peculiarities; but the consciousness of these, which is different from them, does not differ because of its homogeneity." Inspired by this verse from the book, Pancadasi by Vidyaranya (Ch 1, Verse 3), Swami Sarvapriyananda gives a discourse on direct path of Advaita Vedanta.
