The Ukrainian government has created this zone system in which certain places near the front lines are not accessible to journalists. "So far, I haven't crossed anyone in the Ukrainian government," says Semaphore's John Defterios. The press office is vetting journalists and then also allowing them or not allowing them to travel to certain areas.
