The efficacy of psychodelics might seem to establish the material basis of mental and spiritual life beyond any doubt. Huxley thought of the brain as a kind of reducing valve for mind at large. But these drugs can also produce mental states that are best viewed as forms of psychosis. i believe we should be able to draw conclusions about the nature of the cosmos on the basis of inner experiences, no matter how profound they may seem.
