value investing is one of the original anomalies, even though it's struggled in recent history. The last 10 or 15 years, it has not done so great but the economic rationale is extremely strong. From a risk based perspective, companies with lower prices tend to be under distress. And then on the behavioral side, there's a 2012 paper by Pietraski. So they observe systematic pricing errors causing value stocks to be underpriced and growth stocks to be overpriced.
