Jay Z's first order of business at Def Jam is to give the once great label a shot in the arm. The music business has always been notorious for taking advantage of its artists. Rihanna had this young, ambitious publicist and he got an idea: Get Jay Z to hype the song. He plants a story that Rihanna and Jay are having an affair behind Beyonce's back.
