Tent Talks with Dr Stephen Backhouse

CHAPTER

Do You Know What Daily Bread Means?

The phrase, give us to day our daily bread is a linguistic mystery in the new testament. It's not simply the physical bread that we need, but it is an understanding of his word as well. In verse 12, excuse us our debts, just as we have excused our debtors. The prodigal son was that he wanted his inheritance now, yes. And he got it, and then the prodigal Son goes and squanders it. Is a little bit like saying, give us our inheritance now.
