The Importance of Russian Intelligence in the West
Putin must feel relatively confident that he can infiltrate and degrade any organization that gets too powerful. The Russians still have capabilities, particularly because this is an essentially not just morally bankrupt, but also post ideological state. So they can work with the left, with the right, with Black Lives Matter, with white supremacists. This has not proven anywhere near that kind of world-winning weapon that some people have suggested. But above all, all it can do is exacerbate existing tendencies. It can, for want of a better word, radicalize. You can't take someone who's firm supporter of Ukraine's struggle for his freedom and turn them in a week's time into a z-head.
