The Origins of Joseph Smith

I learned about the Kirtland Banking Society, where Joseph and Sidney Rigdon decided to start a bank because the church was poor. And they did a little shady business in forming a bank where they printed money and gave away promissory notes,. And of course, the bank ended up failing. So I learned there that Joseph started his life as fugitive because he was indicted later. It seemed to me that everywhere he went, he was being chased by the law after that time. Then another very disturbing thing was the Nauvoo period where Joseph started polygamy. He demanded total loyalty from those who followed him. Those who weren't totally loyal were excommunicated.
