The essential feature of the schizoid personality is a pervasive pattern of detachment from social relationships. The lack of desire for intimacy, they can have a very bland exterior without any visible emotional reactivity. They rarely experience strong emotions, such as like anger or joy. And then in sometimes in unusual circumstances, which they become at least temporarily comfortable in revealing themselves, they may acknowledge feelings related to social interactions.
