The Younger Dryas Period
During the Pleistocene, parts of North America were covered in ice. The northern hemisphere started to slowly warm up about 18,000 years ago and that giant sheet of ice started to melt. In the last 1,000 years of the Pleistolithic, parts of the northern hemisphere all of a sudden started to get colder again. Scientists don't entirely know why this happened but there is another theory as to why Earth suddenly got colder.
