In the current study, they report a series of experiments using patient plasma and C1 inhibitor deficient mice. Thrombin generation was assessed in both human and mouse plasma. The authors concluded that their findings suggest a key role for endogenous C1 inhibitor as a negative regulator of venous thrombus formation in mice.
