Consumers Won't Spend Less This Year
americans have lost over five trillion dollars in stock market wealth so far this year. The fete is hoping that those losses will cause consumers to spend less, and therefore reduce inflation. When your four to one k or your house falls in value, you're less likely to spend on that big vacation or new car. But it may take a lot more wealth destruction to actually impact spending and inflation.
