The Importance of Embroidery in Palestinian Life

For Palestinian women, embroidery is deeply connected to their sense of cultural and national identity. Stitching beautifully patterned and brightly coloured panels for long robes has long been a tradition for women there. An exhibition originally curated for the Palestinian Museum in Ramallah has now come to the UK. It reflects not just the rich regional history of needlecraft, but how dramatically its place in Palestinian life and culture has changed since 1948.
