The Virginia Company: A Business Venture
On April 26, 1607, three boats bring 144 Virginia company Brits to the Chesapeake Bay area. Immediately upon trying to settle there, the English or the Virginia company is actually attacked by Algonquin speaking nations. The Powhatan attack shows the complexity of society on the continents before Europeans showed up.
