The Disaster of Vietnam in the Late 1960s
In 1965, already in 1965, he realizes the whole thing is a complete disaster. He comes back and essentially tells his colleagues at Harvard, we have to find a diplomatic way out of this. The North Vietnamese had no intention of reaching a diplomatic settlement with the United States. They thought they were going to win. And so they play Fuzzi with Johnson and later on with Nixon.
