Welcome to the History of Modern Greece. In this introduction episode, we give an overview of the entire show and the purpose of our podcast.
Most people have heard of Ancient Greece, and they know Greece is a country today, but very few people know how it evolved over the eons of time, from the days of the Bronze Age to the present day. Like most nations in the world today, Greece is relatively young; before Greece was a nation, it was part of a series of Empires. Before Greece was ever part of an Empire, it was never a country or nation but rather a series of city-states that functioned individually. Now Greece is a nation famous for tourism, beautiful islands, and amazing ruins scattered across modern cities.
The History of Modern Greece covers the events of the Greek people from the fall of Constantinople in 1453 through the War of Independence to the Modern Day.
