The Importance of Design Thinking

Design thinking is about trying to speed up innovation around the sort of big challenges that we face in business and society today. The term was coined by David Kelly, who you know well from your time at Stanford. How did you get to IDEO? Did you always want to be a designer? I don't think so, although I'm not sure I can remember really, but I know I used to build things when I was little.
