Is Your Budget a Stress Mitigation?

I generally kept a buffer in that checking account of maybe, I don't know, three to $5,000 extra. This money's job is to be there so I don't have to worry about timing bills or just mismatches every once in a while. That money then was sent to one of whatever investment we had planned for that month,. usually Vanguard or some such.
