The Sustainability of the State

Blair: The state is behind most of the problems that we face. Last year, total government spent was £1,117 billion in the UK. That's like over 40% of GDP in government spend. It's absolutely remarkable. And one of the great benefits of digital technology is what we call like a 10x principle. So you can do 10 times more, 10 times better, for 10 times less money. What's happening is that the state is sustaining itself, if not getting larger.
