What Is Kant's Light?
For about five years, from 1832 to 1837, Carl's mind was saturated by an atmosphere that combined Kantianism with heady German romantic culture. Ed Alesnst: This period is a time of profound importance for intellectual formation. For the adherence of Christian ideals, moral worth has little to do with the ability to survive and to achieve happiness in this world. Like those fellows driving the white pimp mobiles in New York City who seemed to be getting along fine practicing the most corrupt of values, there is therefore a Kant's light between what is and what ought to be.
