The meric hymns are so incredibly interesting and insight full when it comes to just understanding the gods, the very concepts of them in greek mythology. According to my beloved theodoc halm, most of the poems, including the longer ones that tell the full stories, date to around the seventh or sixth centuries b c e. There are hymns to so many of the olympian gods and even mother goddesses like gaia, and heroes like heracles. Some are just a couple of lines, others are longer they are all beautiful.
