Archesilaus's Inactivity Objection

The sceptic cannot do anything at all if he lacks beliefs. Archesilaus dealt with the objection by, once again, exploiting weapons unwittingly placed into his hands by the stoics. The Stoics think that the sage will follow impressions which strike him as reasonable, without necessarily giving these impressions his full assent. Now archesilaus himself can pounce and say that what goes for attacking tigers will work just as well for visiting giraffes. He suggests that these impressions will be used as a practical guide by the sceptic.
