How to Keep a Liquid in a Vacuum Environment

Most of Venus's atmosphere is carbon dioxide, a gas released by breathing creatures. Dry ice goes directly from solid to gas with no liquid phase. As we discussed in Winter on Venus though, deployment of cheap solar shades to orbit Venus could block its light and cool it. Aliens might do the same, and of course post-biological life can adapt itself to live wherever it pleases,. maybe even on top of neutron stars.
