The Development of John Knox's Church Context
John Knox was born roughly around 1514 on the outskirts of Haddington, southern southern plains of Scotland. He grew up if we want to be anachronistic, but he Roman Catholic,. The medieval church was still the dominant power in Scotland in those days. In 1532 or so Knox was sent to study at the University of St. Andrews. And just by way of reference, this is when Calvin published the institutes of the Christian religion. So that first edition and in 1540. Four years after that first edition of the Calvin's institutes is released, Knox's ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood.
