Are We Just Talking Past One Another?
There are different views on this in philosophy, the area that studies this is called philosophy of mind. Idealism says that what's ultimately real are the mental phenomena. Materialism says no, matter is what's fundamental. And property dualists who are materialists would account for the mind. They'd say it's an emergent property. But if you zoomed into the level of atoms, none of the atoms are blue.
