The Relationship Between Desire and Actuality

In post-war Britain, the idea that you could make fizzy drinks in your kitchen just felt like Avalon and Nirvana had all just arrived at once. It's always seemed to me a fabulous aspect of core Britishness that half the time we could barely get to work but nevertheless, we wanted to go to the moon. And it's the relationship between desire and actuality that is so interesting to me about Britain.
