The Leverer Law of Marriage
Moses said if a man die having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up seed unto his brother. So this is what is called the leverer law of marriage. It comes from the the Akkadian word, Lavera, which means brother-in-law. Now it kind of freaks out a lot of people, especially if you like my wife would not love this conversation and so on. But culturally for them this was seen as a very charitable kind thing to do that makes sure that widows are taken care of by someone until they can take care of herself.
