Is Diluting the Power of the Smartest Person in America a Big Deal?
I'm kind of confused about this because just having at some point, you're going to run out of the smartest. The relative effect of the brightest people might dilute a little bit. But maybe that's a huge tragedy. We don't know without a bunch of extra math and a bunch of weird assumptions. I thought that the one of the great ideas of economics is that we have to worry about secondary tertiary consequences. If we can't even figure out what they are exactly, why not just do the thing that on the first order effect seems good? Go ahead and run your experiments in Iceland for 50 years and see what happens.
