The Serpentine Dance is a dance by Lowy Fuller in which the body turns into something else. In one image, she flings herself away from us while looking at the camera over her shoulder,. She looks like a primitive aircraft coming apart, a soft, disintegrated, blario monoplane. Despite all these versions of her, Fuller's visual legacy is hard to reconstruct. Her costumes were among the modernist motifs invoked by Lady Gaga and as we know, Taylor Swift.
