Introduction

The main news story, not directly a political story, was the acquittal of Gerard Hutch on his murder charge in the Special Criminal Court earlier this week. There have already been rumblings from the evidence which was given at the trial and its impact on Sinn Fein because Jonathan Doudel, the chief witness for the prosecution, is a former Sinn Fein councillor.
