william walker and his friends were detained by the Mexican government. They spent a month trying to convince the governor that, no, really, guy, we're cool dudes. We're not trying to conquer part of your country. While they waited, walker made a bit of a name for himself around town for dressing like a maniac. He was described as wearing a huge white fur hat, whose long nap waved with the breeze,. despite the hundred plus degree summer heat. And so at the end of july, william and his friends left their failure.
