The Pros and Cons of Network Reciprocity
The next rule that Novak proposed, which governs decision making around cooperation, is what he called network reciprocity. This strategy acts as a social control mechanism and it encourages individuals to maintain a good reputation by engaging in cooperative actions. It's most often the case that when we're banded together in this network, we are very aware of the cost of defecting from that network and not cooperating.
