Data Colonialism - Can You Give Us an Example?
Soesi: Data colonialism is a term that we often hear, especially with regard to the global south. I don't really have an alternative frame. A data orientalism or ornamentalism might be interesting to think about - but it's not just one thing. And so for me, we also have to think about forms of counter data that communities are producing in erto make their own claims,. But of course, keeping in mind that those claims are being made within a field that values certain things as legitimate forms of data.
