In the organization of our economy, the loss of a job is devastating. We could have an economy that guaranteed access to basic human needs like housing and health care but we don't. So talking about scaling down harmful industries without talking about people who work in those industries? That's one of the things that the green new deal tried to do. Their proposal went even beyond just thinking bout the workers who are going to lose their jobs. And they also include what they call front line communities. The idea of an american standard of living depends upon extraction and exploitation from other parts of the world,. A formerly colonized, currently neo colonized, part of the world.
