The Poverty of Stimulus
The original argument was that children had to identify the correct grammar for the language they're learning. These days, we know much more about the input that kids get and it's much richer than was stored originally. With models like GPT and other models, we now know that statistical learning is incredibly powerful with enough input. And so I think it's time to sort of revisit the notion of the poverty of the stimulus giving what we now know.
