The Importance of Imagination in the Moral Processes
The real trick is in creating something which happened spontaneously or automatically through practice, basically rit practice of associating shame with certain things. So again, the intellect can play a role here, but not in the manner we normally think of the intellect taking control of the moral processes by an act of free will. Ah, because so what we're doing here is, it's the use of the imagination, usually powerfully enhanced with religious imagery or religious sentimentality, to bring something before our mind's eye,.
