Is It a Doggy Dog World Out in Nature?

It depends on the species. For a lot of species, they can sit around without any relative risk on predators if you're an elephant and nothing's really going to eat you. But for other species, yes, they have evolved to avoid predators. And if they're highly predated on, you're less likely to see this in activity. However, you can often find places to hide from predators. People found a lot of lazy frogs out there, which obviously get eaten a lot, but they just find a little rocks to hide under and not move for a really long time.
