The Darwinian Process and the Origin of Life

Dawkins says that life must have evolved via some sort of Darwinian mechanism. But a Darwinian process doesn't explain the origin of life, only the development of life,. It only exists. I mean, even the origin of species is not about the origin of Species; it's more like survival of the fittest. So there's a misnomer actually, isn't it? It's very interesting insight.
