Krypton allowed users to give Miku whatever personality they wanted. It played into an existing and extremely popular scene known as Dojin community. Some men sexualize her, which is just creepy because she's 16 years old. One of my sources explains that the idealized female in Japan being Miku could be for someone that wanted it.
