Is the UK in a Similar Pace to Other Countries in Terms of Adoption of Autonomous Cars?
British policy makers would say this is an area where Britain can lead. We lost our manufacturing capacity for motor cars a few decades ago and we have not been quite so bullish as certainly some places in the US and increasingly China, which is seeing rapid acceleration deployment of these vehicles in cities. Where activity does happen, it tends to be of a different sort which is actually a much closer collaboration between self-driving vehicle developers and public transport. And I think Britain does need to play an important role, even if it's not our car companies or our tech startups who are leading the way.
