The Beijing Meteorological Service Says the Heaviest Rains Since Records Began

Officials say the deadly rains that pummeled Beijing in recent days were the heaviest since records began nearly a century and a half ago. At least 20 people have died across the capital and in surrounding her Bay Province. The nation is now an alert for the arrival of Typhoon Kanun, the sixth such storm of the year as it nears the east coast.
