The average American worker will change jobs a dozen times by the time they turn age 52. The transition from one health insurance plan to another can disrupt your access to care and for that reason it makes a lot more sense to have an ongoing relationship with one insurer, says Julian Zelizer. "It's sort of because of an historical accident we have this this tax preference for employer sponsored health insurance," he adds.
