The Effects of the T C a on Trade?

There seems to have been a big drop in imports coming from the union. Why is that? Because we are still in phasing period for the new regulations. We also were a little surprised to see bigger effects for imports relative to exports, given that, as you say, the u k has been phasing in the new import controls. But these new barriers, the new customs checks, being regulatory barriers that have been introduced, they are not temporary features of the new relationship. They re done to be here permanently, and therefore they are likely to to a permanent hit to uk trade. How big that hit is still remains to be seen.
