Why Did We Still End Up With the Veto?
The framers of the constitution were certainly inspired by the historical republics. There really was a sense of trying to avoid tyranny. So they created a system of mixed government, the one, the few, the many. Some delegates argued it would give the president too much power and others argued it was essential to preserving the balance of power between the executive and legislative branches.
