The Confrontation With the Gifts of Grace
According to the theory I am presenting two extremes are to be avoided. God effectively offers grace to some human creatures while allowing them to turn away from him culpably. In other cases God offers grace to creatures and then pursues them by a kind of persistence of divine mercy. Here we confront the Augustinian principle of predilection in the order of salvation each is given the invitation to love God but none can say he or she is inculpable.
