There was something almost surreal about that whole period. I mean it was a bit spaghetti western but you do your best. My aunt actually worked at Radio Foil at the time and Martin McInnes had told her he couldn't figure out if it was him speaking or you're speaking on the radio. The restrictions were lifted six years later in 1994 following the IRA of a ceasefire. Secret government memos published years later revealed that officials thought the actors had become almost too realistic making a mockery of the ban.
