The Care Economy Is a Two Twelfth of the GDP
The care economy if you think about it it's really there's two parts of it. One is the paid care economy I think that's what we typically think of people delivering elder care in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and childcare centers. That's a huge a bigger portion indeed of the care economy than the paid sector which is nannies nurses home care attendants day care centers. So the overall care economy just in the US loan six trillion dollars with four children up four trillion being in the unpaid portion of the economy.
