Why Do We Need Expert Witnesses?
As a clinician, how much time would you get to prepare for going to court as a clinical witness rather than an expert witness? The more of these children you look after, the more likely it is you're going to need to be writing reports and helping the court system. There are some people who don't want to get involved in this work because they can see the consequences of where it might lead. And then that's not enough. You have to come to court to be cross-amined by Leslie or other experts - which most experts will still say invests in them a sense of anxiety. They're being catapulted into a case without knowing what happened before asking questions. Not knowing
